Will County Jail Roster
The official county roster is the Will County Inmate Inquiry, a free Tyler Technologies portal linked from the Sheriff's Office. It covers booking records tied to the Will County Adult Detention Facility and related county jail custody. The research inspection found that the portal is broader than a simple live list. It showed current in-custody records and a large set of historical booking records, so released bookings may appear alongside current jail records when the in-custody filter is not used.
Use the county roster for people arrested locally, held before trial, held on short county sentences, or temporarily held for court. It is not the right tool for every custody question. Sentenced Illinois prisoners move to the Illinois Department of Corrections Individual in Custody Search. Federal sentenced inmates use the BOP inmate locator, and immigration detention uses the ICE Online Detainee Locator System. Use Will County Inmate Records
Search broadly at first, then narrow the result set. The Will County jail roster accepts name, subject number, booking number, date range, and housing facility fields. A current custody search should use the In Custody checkbox. A past booking search may need a date range or the booking number because the public portal can return many records.
The in-custody roster view is useful when the only question is whether a person is presently held by Will County. The ordinary roster search is better when the goal is to find older booking history or a released entry that no longer appears in the current jail population.

Result rows can include a mugshot thumbnail, name, race, gender, height, weight, and a multiple-bookings indicator. Pagination controls appear when results exceed the first page. A person with more than one Will County booking may have older photos and booking histories attached to the same profile.
Will County Inmate Profile
A Will County inmate record is a booking and custody profile, not a full criminal-history report. It may show enough data to confirm identity, custody status, charges listed at booking, court dates, bond fields, and the agency that brought the person into custody. It does not show medical records, social security numbers, detailed pod or cell placement, or filed court pleadings.

Will County ADF Contact
The Adult Detention Facility is the main Will County jail. The Sheriff's Office operates it for pretrial adults, people awaiting court, and people serving county sentences up to one year. The facility page describes the jail as a direct-supervision facility, while the IDOC inspection materials describe intake, classification, medical screening, and jail-standards review.

The Video Visitation Center is not a housing facility. It is a visitor-services building across from the Adult Detention Facility, and visitors connect to the jail by video from that location.
Will County Booking Records
Will County booking starts when a person is brought to the Adult Detention Facility, court holding, or another local custody channel after an arrest or transfer. Public profiles can list the booking origin, such as a municipal police department, Illinois State Police, or the Sheriff's Office. During intake, jail staff verify confinement authority and identity, complete searches and fingerprints, inventory property, route money into a commissary account, and begin classification.
The 2024 IDOC inspection adds local detail that is not visible in the public roster. It notes booking triage by a nurse, a required physical after intake, medication verification, property storage, five free phone calls, shower and uniform steps, and classification review at least every 60 days or after court dates. Those operational facts help explain why a booking record may lag behind arrest, court, or release events. The public roster is useful, but it is not a live view into each internal intake step.
Illinois initial appearance rules also matter. After arrest, the court informs the defendant of the charge and handles release conditions. That is why a jail profile can show booking charges and court dates, while the official case record may later show amended, reduced, dismissed, or added charges.
Will County Visitation Schedule
The Sheriff's visitation rules route public visits through video visitation. Most inmates may receive two 30-minute visits each week after their first court appearance. Visits are scheduled by phone during visitation hours, and the research notes a 24 to 48 hour scheduling window with first-come, first-served availability.

Will County Mail Money
Mail for people in the Adult Detention Facility routes through Smart Communications. The published mail format is Smart Communications / Will Co. Adult Det. Ct., the person's name and booking number, PO Box 9172, Seminole, FL 33775-9175. Incoming mail is opened and searched, and the Sheriff's mail rules bar many items, including drop-off letters, oversized cards, stickers, tape, glue, glitter, perfume, cash, stamps, Polaroids, hardcover books, newspapers, and material deemed a security threat.
Money can be sent by money order payable to W.C.A.D.F. with the inmate's name, by cash deposit at the Video Visitation Center during posted deposit hours, by cash deposit at the Bond Lobby, or through JailATM. The Sheriff bail and commissary page warns that online bail payments are not currently accepted and that the Sheriff's Office does not request bail through Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle.

Will County Records Requests
When the roster does not show the needed Will County inmate record, use the Sheriff's FOIA process. The Sheriff FOIA page lists Inmate Records, Incident Reports/ADF, Adult Detention Facility Quarterly Reports, Adult Detention Facility Year End Report, IDOC Annual Inspection, and IDOC Monthly Statistics as readily available categories. Written requests can be delivered by hand, email, fax, USPS, courier, or the NextRequest portal.
FOIA requests should identify the person, booking number if known, date range, and the exact record requested. The current sheriff FOIA page lists the FOIA Administrator at 16911 W. Laraway Rd., Suite 101, Joliet, IL 60433, with fax 815-727-8565. The first 50 black-and-white legal or letter pages are free, additional black-and-white pages are 15 cents each, and certified records are listed at one dollar. Illinois FOIA generally uses a five-business-day response rule, with limited extensions and exemptions.
The FOIA portal is not a substitute for court-file copies. Court documents, filed pleadings, and official docket records route to the Circuit Clerk, iPublic, i2File, courthouse terminals, or physical court files.
Will County Custody Channels
Each custody channel answers a different question. The county roster confirms Will County jail bookings. VINELink provides custody notification. IDOC tracks sentenced Illinois prisoners after transfer. BOP tracks sentenced federal prisoners from 1982 to present. ICE ODLS tracks many immigration detainees, but does not search minors under 18 and does not publish mugshots.
